A week ago, we had to race against time to save a 12 year old who was rushed to the facility by both parents in the middle of the night when their only son lost consciousness and convulsed 3 times then became still.
The mother, more agitated than the father who appeared distraught betraying, observantly, intense fear beneath the surface of unruffled feathers, was shaking. Happy Father's day to me, Dada Bangeskiya.
God's hand will be upon you so much so that you will be a light in the path of your generation. Because of you your community will know growth and development, women will have a voice and Nigeria will be great. You will be a beacon of hope for the world. Happy Father's day to me. A week ago I saw first hand the effect of the multiple killings by herdsmen in my clinic.
The Anglican junior seminary in Gidan Waya houses little children in boarding houses, employing good hearted teachers to teach, cook and care for them. I am talking about children within the ages of 5-10years. The fulani child appears to have been trained to withstand and bear pains more than children of other tribes or ethnic groups. Their pain threshold stands at an amazingly high level.
I managed a young 12 year old fulani boy whose father had brought him to the facility when the boy complained of abdominal pain and vomiting that fateful morning.
I was called upon at about 10pm when this young man was rushed to the facility with bleeding and pain in the right shoulder. He was said to have been shot by what I suspect to be an Ak47 around the college of Education Gidan Waya.
Gidan Waya is notorious for crimes such as this. In the last 1 week I have had to managed 4 gun shot wounds from the community I am practicing. Some fatal, others not so. He is 29years old and presented some time ago with this sudden deepening yellowing of the eyes, chest pain and difficulty breathing.
He had been at home taking some herbal concoctions mixed by his family and some pills from the chemist. It only got worse and they presented to the facility after having been convinced to come. We raised 53k for Tabitha. Her bill is 34k.
The excess of 19k will be brought forward to help the patient we are currently managing for typhoid perforation. Again, thank you. God bless you abundantly. Gastroenteritis with mild dehydration secondary to malaria.
This young 3 year old male child was brought in yesterday with excessive crying, loose stool, vomiting and fever. We quickly commence treatment and today he is up and about! Amazing how little children recover with the right diagnosis and treatment. I love treating children even though they can be very difficult to handle. Just look at those eyes that were formerly sunken looking full, purposeful and happy again. The emphasis of having trained and experienced doctors in the rural areas must continually be encouraged and this discussion must be sustained on the front burner until it becomes a norm.
You, all of you, see the little girl you have left an indelible mark on. One that she will never forget.
Her appendectomy was a success. |
