In the last 5 days we have had road traffic accidents back to back on the gidan waya-forest-hawan kibo-Riyom axis. Near fatal ones with each event bringing over 8 victims.
Please drive with care.
That day, the wound was ragged and dirty we had to just tag and manage as an open wound after debriding...
There are pus extruding now but that's not a problem, she will be fine before she knows it. Our baby has even forgotten he had any injury. She says the younging has been playing all over the place.
The mother had part of the skin from her scalp peeled extensively exposing the underlying skull but in the midst of the agony, all she kept muttering was, "where is my baby I want to feed my baby...."
The little man was frightened and agitated but as soon as he touched mama and that breast, he was reassured again... God has wonderful ways of showing his undying love for children. The accident was near fatal.
The roads are bad, pot holes abound even in sloppy, serpentine roads. Cars in an attempt to dodge and navigate these roads often end up being victims of accidents. Some die, others are permanently deformed.
This child is one of 3 children from the same mother who was traveling along the Jos-forest highway when the commercial car had a burst tyre. Varying degrees of injury but they all survived. Now all through my practice I haven't managed a case of accident where children less than 5 years are brought in dead. God has a way of saving them no matter how fatal the event.
We had to put the young man to sleep and repaired his wound with a subcuticular absorbable suture with pressure afterwards. The idea is not to have him come back for stitch removal. That would have been another torture and irritability.
The rural doctor initiative... Everyone deserves good health.
