(viewer's discretion) Three businessmen traveling from Nasarawa state, Nigeria, Africa, to Kano state, another state in Nigeria through a village in Kaduna, unbeknownst to them, fell into the trap of some unknown bandits when their bus' tyre had a blow-out at the hot spot of the activities of these bandits. It was already 1am so they decided to pass the night in their car and hopefully get help at the break of dawn. Suddenly, some men jumped out of the bushes and descended on them. Their sword dug dip and easily through their victims skin and bones like child's play. They left them for dead after they had stolen their phones and monies. The military on patrol passed through, picked them up and brought them to us. Exam showed the bones of the hands had been cut through and through, tendons and blood vessels.
We had to irrigate properly with saline to indentify the tissues, tagged them and advised they be rushed to a tertiary facility for plastic surgery to repair the hands or they risk losing them. This is one decision only an experience MEDICAL DOCTOR can arrive at. It further emphasizes the need for rural doctors to be easily accessible in these villages. The RDI will continue to do it's best to ensure everyone gets good health.
