This is a stab wound to the Left chest wall that went through the left nipple, digging through the chest muscles( the two pectoralis) going superiorly and almost nearing the collar bone. It missed a lot of vital vessels there including the subclavian, a blood vessel supplying the upper limb. We were able to repair the muscle and a bleeding artery. The young man did marvelously well and was discharged the next day for follow up.
This wouldn't have been possible if there wasn't a qualified doctor on ground in the rural area. Again, this reemphasizes the need for qualified medical professionals in the rural areas. They are needed because lifesaving decisions lies with them only. Rural doctor initiative.....Everyone deserves good health.
